Grands Mulets Hut: two dead in a serac avalanche
Submitted by masterblaster on Wed, 04/19/2023 - 15:46On Wednesday 19 April 2023, a new avalanche took place, early in the morning, in the Mont-Blanc massif. A serac fall in the area of the Grands Mulets Hut where two people lost their lives.
According to the Dauphine, around 4:30 am, mountaineers were surprised by an avalanche. Large blocks of ice broke off from the Dôme du Goûter and triggered a flow that reached the Mont Blanc ascent route by crossing the sector of the small and large plateau.
On 30 January 2020, a large PIDA (plan d'intervention de déclenchements des avalanches) took place for the Tour slopes service, Tête de Balme sector, Belleplace du Tour in Mont-Blanc massif, at 2,150 m altitude (7,053 ft).
After 19 years since their last appearance in the semifinals of the Coupe de France of ice hockey, the Pionniers de Chamonix (Pioneers of Chamonix) will be playing against Lyon on the 16th of February 2019, in the semifinals.
